Track maintenance was the focus of the last weekend work session. Numerous sections of track were straightened, leveled and ballasted. Many of the ties at the switched throws have been changed out for taller ties which should help to help keep the throw mechanism free of debris-see photo.
The ash pit in Barney yard is finished and the five tracks are back in service. The tracks are welded to the grates and are very stable. The heavy wood panels between the tracks are removable to facilitate cleaning. The pit can also be used a huge barbecue grill. Nice upgrade!
