The 17 year Cicadas crawled out of the ground at MCC this spring. They will spend the next 3 to 4 weeks mating. The males make lots of noise so the females can find them. The females then lay eggs after which they all die from exhaustion. The eggs hatch later in the summer and the grub like worms bore into the ground and stay for the next 17 years. There are thousands of these things around the track to the delight of birds and small rodents. Internet research revealed that some societies consider deep fried cicadas a delicacy.

The Memorial Weekend Meet was a big success. There was a huge crowd on Saturday. Snapshots below were all taken just before lunch on Saturday
