Central Ohio Area Live Steamers Completes Purchase of Mill Creek Central Railroad

Central Ohio Area Live Steams (COALS) announced the purchase of the Mill Creek Central Railroad from Dick McCloy last weekend at the annual Members Only Meet. COALS successfully acquired the property as well as significant assets associated with operating, maintaining and improving the property. Several engines and a significant number of railcars were also purchased to maintain the railroad, provide guests with rides and provide cars for card order meets in the future. The railroad will also see some improvements including a new deck, HVAC in the shop and the board approved the construction of a new car barn up at tower. There are other projects planned as well so stay tuned as we work towards a great future.

The purchase of the railroad, equipment and several of the improvements planned would not have been possible without the transformational generosity of one of our members, who shall remain anonymous! Due to this individuals generosity we were able to purchase the railroad and many of its assets without having to enter into a loan or placing us in debt. I can not describe to you the gratitude the board feels for the funding provided and the encouragement offered to complete this transaction. Again, the organization thanks you for your support!

As part of the sale the board has agreed to allow Dick McCloy to remain on the property to aid in the transition, provide security, groundskeeping and other assistance as needed. His past guidance has helped create a great railroad that has been enjoyed by so many and we look forward to his guidance now and in the future.

We have a clear path ahead and your involvement as a member, promoting the railroad, volunteering, making a donation and joining us at our Meets throughout the year will make the railroad, future events, and the promotion of the railroad's nonprofit goals possible.
